Privacy policy

This policy explains what Dash & Drive collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to dashanddrive.com and nothing else.

What we collect

• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages are read and roughly where readers come from. That involves cookies and a limited amount of technical information — pages viewed, approximate location by region, device type, referring site. We do not use it to identify individuals and we do not try to.
• Affiliate click events. When you click a buy link, an event is recorded in the same analytics: which product, which merchant, which page. That is how we know which recommendations are useful. It carries no personal information.
• Contact form submissions. If you write to us, we receive your name, your email address and your message, because we cannot reply otherwise.
• Standard server logs. Our host records requests, including IP addresses, for security and reliability. This is ordinary web-server behavior.

What we do not collect

• No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for, so there are no passwords, no profiles and no user records.
• No payments. Nothing is sold here. We never see a card number, a shipping address, or an order.
• No newsletter list. There is no email capture on this site.
• No advertising network. No banner ads, no retargeting pixels, no third-party ad trackers.
• No captcha. The contact form is protected by a hidden field and a timing check rather than a third-party captcha, so no external service profiles you in order to decide whether you are a person.

Affiliate links and what the retailer sees

When you click a buy link you are redirected to a retailer — usually Amazon — with a tracking code attached. From that point you are on their site and their privacy policy applies, not ours.

The retailer sets its own cookie to attribute a purchase to us. We never see what you bought, what you paid, or who you are. We see aggregate commission totals, and nothing that identifies a person. How the commission works.

The contact form specifically

• Submissions are sent to us by email and are not stored in a database.
• Your details are used to reply to you and for nothing else.
• They are never sold, rented, or added to any list.
• The form checks a hidden field and how long the page has been open, to reject automated submissions. Both are discarded after the check.
• Submissions are rate-limited per network connection, which means a temporary count is held in server memory. It is not stored and does not persist.

Cookies

The only cookies this site sets are Google Analytics cookies. They are used to distinguish one visit from another so page counts mean something.

You can block or delete them in your browser settings without breaking anything on this site — nothing here needs a cookie to work. Browser “do not track” and privacy-blocking extensions will also stop the analytics loading, and that is fine.

Your choices

• Block analytics with a browser setting or extension. The site works identically.
• Do not use the contact form. Nothing on this site requires you to give us anything.
• Ask us to delete your message. Email us and we will delete the correspondence.

If you are in a jurisdiction with specific data rights — the EU, the UK, California, and others — write to us and we will honor a request to access or delete anything we hold. Realistically that will only ever be an email thread, because that is all there is.

Children

This site is written for adults buying car accessories and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. There is no mailing list to notify, which is itself a consequence of the policy.
