The decision

Buy the 335 unless you charge a laptop in the car. Both are three-port, both total 67 W, both carry ActiveShield 2.0 and an 18-month warranty. The 335 caps each port at 35 W; the 535 will put the full 67 W down one USB-C port at 20 V and 3.35 A. Nothing with a phone battery in it draws more than 35W, so for phones and tablets the two chargers are identical in use and one of them costs less. If you do want laptop-speed charging in the car, the UGREEN 130W publishes 100 W on one port for less than either.

What 35 W per port actually covers

Everything you are likely to put in a car, with one exception. Phones cap between roughly 20 W and 45 W and most sit near the bottom of that. Tablets are similar. A Qi2 wireless mount wants a 20 W source. All of that fits inside 35W with room spare.

The exception is a laptop, which wants 45 W to 100 W to charge at a useful rate. At 35W a laptop charges, slowly, and mostly offsets what it is using rather than filling the battery.

The honest recommendation

  • Phones and tablets only: the 335, or better, the smaller Anker 323 at $19.99 if two ports is enough. You are not using the third port on most days.
  • A laptop, and you want an Anker warranty: the 535.
  • A laptop, and you want the fastest charge for the least money: the UGREEN 130W, which publishes 100 W on a single port and includes the E-marked cable, on the USB-C charger page.

The cable will cap you before the charger does

A USB-C cable rated for 60W carries 60W no matter what the charger can supply. Above that a cable needs an E-marker chip to negotiate higher current, and cheap cables do not have one.

So a 535 with the cable that came with your phone is, in practice, not a 67W charger. Neither charger includes a cable, which means buying the 535 without also buying a 100W-rated cable produces exactly the outcome you paid extra to avoid. That is the single most common way people spend the premium and get nothing.

What neither of them publishes

An operating-temperature range. That is a notable gap for a device that lives permanently in a 12V socket in a car that reaches 60 to 70 C inside in summer. ActiveShield 2.0 is described as monitoring temperature and adjusting output, which implies the design anticipates heat — but implication is not a published number, and the transparency axis in the scoring counts it as a blank on both.

Neither publishes a protrusion depth either, which is the specification that decides whether a three-port charger fouls your gear selector. If your socket is somewhere awkward, that is a real reason to buy the two-port charger instead of either of these.

Skip this one. If you only ever charge phones, this is the wrong one. Nothing with a phone battery in it can take more than 35W, so the 335 does the identical job for less.

Same three ports and same 67W total as the 335, but one USB-C port will deliver the whole 67W on its own at 20V and 3.35A. That is a real laptop charge rather than a trickle, and it is the only reason to pay more than the 335 costs. If nothing you own draws more than 35W, this is money spent on a number you will never see.

What is the difference between the Anker 335 and 535?

The per-port ceiling. Both are three-port and both total 67 W. The 335 caps each port at 35 W; the 535 will deliver the full 67 W from a single USB-C port at 20 V and 3.35 A. Everything else — ports, total, safety system, warranty — is the same.

Will the 335 charge my laptop?

Slowly. At 35 W most laptops roughly offset what they are consuming rather than filling the battery. If charging a laptop in the car matters, you want 65 W or more on a single port.

Is the 535 worth the extra money?

Only for a laptop. For phones and tablets the two are indistinguishable in use, because nothing with a phone battery in it draws more than 35 W. And if it is a laptop you want, the UGREEN 130W publishes 100 W on one port for less than either Anker.

Do I need a special cable?

Above 60 W, yes: the cable needs an E-marker chip. Neither Anker includes one, so buying the 535 without a 100 W-rated cable produces exactly the result you paid extra to avoid.
