Four chargers ranked on the number that actually decides how fast your phone charges — the per-port ceiling — rather than the total wattage on the box. They are not the same thing and the gap is large.

We have not tested any of this. Everything below is compiled from published manufacturer specifications, and the arithmetic is printed so you can check it. The short answer

Buy the Anker 323 at $19.99 unless you know you need more. It publishes a full voltage table with a 30 W ceiling on USB-C, and 30W is at or above what almost every phone will accept — so the 67W and 130W chargers above it are selling headroom your phone cannot use. Buy the UGREEN 130W if you genuinely charge a laptop in the car: it publishes 100 W on one port and includes the E-marked cable, for less than the 67W chargers cost.

The number on the box is usually the wrong number

A charger advertised at 67 W might deliver all 67 from a single port, or it might cap each port at 35 W and only reach 67 with three devices plugged in. Those are different products at similar prices, and the difference only becomes visible if the maker publishes a per-port table.

Anker's own 335 and 535 are the clean illustration: identical port counts, identical 67W headline, and one of them will put the whole 67W down a single USB-C port at 20V and 3.35A while the other stops at 35W per port. The head-to-head puts both published tables side by side.

What your devices actually accept

This is the whole decision, and it is short:

  • Phones cap between about 20 W and 45 W depending on the model, and most sit near the bottom of that. Above the phone's own ceiling, extra watts do absolutely nothing.
  • Tablets sit in a similar range, generally 20 to 45 W.
  • Qi2 wireless mounts want a 20 W or better source to deliver their rated 15W output. This is the requirement people miss — the Qi2 mount page covers it.
  • Laptops want 45 W to 100 W. This is the only case where a per-port ceiling above 35W changes anything at all.

So: if your car carries phones, buy the cheap one with a published table. If it carries a laptop, buy the one with 100W on a single port. There is very little in between, and the wattage page does the arithmetic in full.

PD and PPS, and why PPS is on the list

USB Power Delivery is the negotiation protocol: the phone and charger agree a voltage and current rather than the charger pushing 5V and hoping. PPS is an extension that lets them adjust in fine steps rather than jumping between fixed voltages, and several Samsung phones need it to reach their advertised fastest charging.

Every charger on this page supports PD. The Anker 335 and the UGREEN publish PPS support explicitly. If you own a recent Samsung and want its headline charging speed, that is a specification to look for by name rather than assume.

The cable is a component, and it is often the bottleneck

A USB-C cable rated for 60W will carry 60W regardless of what the charger can supply. Above that a cable needs an E-marker chip to negotiate higher current, and cheap cables do not have one.

This is why the UGREEN including a 100 W E-marked cable matters more than it looks: buying that cable separately is often $15, which is most of the price difference between the UGREEN and the cheaper Anker. If you buy a high-wattage charger and use the cable that came with your phone, you may have bought nothing at all.

The specification nobody publishes and everybody notices

How far it sticks out of the socket. A three-port charger is physically chunky, and in a tight center console it can foul the gear selector, the cup holder or the armrest. UGREEN publishes a 45-gram weight; nobody publishes a protrusion depth.

If your 12V socket is somewhere awkward, the two-port Anker 323 is the small one, and that is a legitimate reason to choose it over more capable chargers.

Skip this one. Unless you charge a laptop in the car, this is the wrong one. Nothing with a phone battery in it draws more than 35W, so the cheaper Anker 335 does the identical job — and if you do want laptop-speed charging, the UGREEN publishes 100W on a single port for less money.

Same three ports and same 67W total as the 335, but one USB-C port will deliver the whole 67W on its own at 20V and 3.35A. That is a real laptop charge rather than a trickle, and it is the only reason to pay more than the 335 costs. If nothing you own draws more than 35W, this is money spent on a number you will never see.

Questions people actually ask

Do I need a 67W car charger?

Only if you charge a laptop. Phones cap between about 20 and 45 W, so a 30W port charges any of them at full speed. Above the phone's own ceiling, extra watts do nothing at all.

Why is my phone charging slowly even with a fast charger?

Three usual causes: the cable is rated below what the charger can supply, the port you used is the slow one on a multi-port charger, or the phone is hot and throttling. On a multi-port charger, check the published table for which port is the fast one.

What is PPS and do I need it?

An extension of USB Power Delivery that adjusts voltage in fine steps rather than fixed jumps. Several recent Samsung phones need it for their advertised fastest charging. If you own one, look for PPS by name in the specifications.

Can a car charger drain my battery?

Only if the socket stays live with the ignition off and something is plugged in drawing power. Most cars cut the socket with the ignition. If yours does not, unplug the charger when you park, or check whether it has a standby draw published.
