Relative cooling is the whole story

This is the single most misunderstood thing in the category, and AstroAI states it correctly while a great many listings do not.

A thermoelectric cooler uses a Peltier element: pass current through it and one side gets cold while the other gets hot. There is no thermostat and no compressor. It pumps a fixed amount of heat, so the inside ends up a fixed number of degrees below whatever is outside it.
